WHMIS
Course length: 2 hours

This course is designed to educate workers on potential hazardous materials found in the workplace. Container label, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Employee Training will be the main topics. An update on the legislation requirements will also be discussed. A card of certification will be provided
upon successful completion of this course.

Fit for Duty
Course length: 2 Hours
Certification: Certificate of Completion
An examination, completed by a Physician, using prescribed skill sets and job description for specific trades set out by the Ministry of Trades, Colleges and Universities. Workers will be evaluated as to whether their physical condition is suitable to meet job description without undue stress or harm to self or co-workers. Workers will be deemed either, fit for duty, fit with restrictions (i.e. lifting, climbing, bending, etc) or if worker cannot complete examination based on trade criteria the worker will be deemed unfit for duty.

Rights and Responsibilities
Course length: 2 Hours

This comprehensive course outlines the specific duties prescribed by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, “the Green Book,” and its regulations (examples: Right to Refuse, prescribed procedure, etc.). In addition, duties and responsibilities of workplace parties including workers, employers, supervisors, Joint Health and Safety Committee members, Certified members, constructors, owners, tenants, agents, etc. will be covered.

Confined Space Hazard Awareness
Certification: 3 years
This course provides training to make people aware of the hazards associated with “confined spaces.” The Hazard Awareness course is designed for people who do NOT enter a confined space but may work in its vicinity. Legislation and the RAC system (Recognize, Assess and Control) will be the major
topics. A card of certification will be provided upon successful completion of this course.

Confined Space Entry
Certification: 3 years
This course provides training to workers who enter into a confined space to conduct inspections or perform work duties. Along with becoming award of the hazards associated with confined spaces, students will participate in hands-on training. Students will have the opportunity to proactive on
and in a simulated “confined space” using rescue equipment, fall protection and SCBA (self contained breathing apparatus) equipment. A card of certification will be provided upon successful completion of this course.

Fall Protection
Course length: 4 hours
Certification: Certificate of Completion
This course will prepare a worker with the basic knowledge to recognize, assess and control fall hazards on a construction site. Upon completion of this course, participants will have reviewed the OHS Act and Regulations in conjunction with Fall Protection procedures. They will also be familiar with the equipment that is used in fall prevention and fall arrest. A card of certification will be provided upon successful completion of this course.

Propane Use in Equipment
Course length: 2 hours
Certification: 3 years
This course provides the participant with the skill to recognize the hazards associated with propane in construction. Participants will have the opportunity to connect, activate and disconnect propane-powered equipment consisting of up to 400,000s (in our outside facility). A card of certification will be
provided upon successful completion of this course.

Tow Motor Operator
Course length: 2 hours
Certification: 3 years
Provides workers training on the operation and inspection of counter balance fork lift. Hazard Recognition and Control, Specific inspection points, Changing and inspection on board propane tanks, inspection of batteries, load and equipment center of gravity, outdoor vs indoor operation,
maintenance requirements, limitations of equipment, etc. After successful completion of theory the worker will be required to perform practical load handling, inspection and operation of a
tow motor. Record of Training will be issued after successful completion of both components.

Fire Extinguisher Training
Course length: 2 Hours
Certification: Certificate of Completion
Vital Link Training Services provides important Fire Safety Training Demonstration Programs for industry, commerce, and institutions. Each program is designed to deal directly with the inherent fire hazards to properties and people. The training is designed to provide for the “greater safety” and take into account life safety practices: recognition of specific types of fire; the effects of proper and improper use of fire extinguishers. First we will cover the basics of fire protection with a video presentation, followed by a talk and discussion period. Vital Link Training Services will demonstrate the types of fire extinguishers and proper handling methods required to deal with specific problems.
